ABOUT

Irene Ardan, portrait photographer, holding her camera against a black backdrop

I’m Irene Ardan — a photographic artist in London. I make cinematic portraits of people and couples, built like films, about the version of you that rarely gets out.

A session here works the way a short film does: a place with a story, real light, direction the whole way through. You don’t come to pose. You come to spend an evening as the self you usually keep indoors — freer, more deliberate, more alive — and you leave with proof that this person exists.

My background is conceptual, story-driven photography: handwriting on skin, an empty rehearsal hall, a white dress walked through the City. The same language runs through every commission — and, lately, through an ongoing series shot inside London’s tango scene, where I dance myself.

I moved to the United Kingdom on a Global Talent visa, endorsed for exceptional promise in the arts, and I now live and work in London, shooting across the UK and worldwide.

Global Talent visa holder — endorsed in the arts by Arts Council England.
