The Rehearsal

A woman holds the gaze

At first the room tries to explain her: pianist, perhaps, or muse. Neither name holds. She stays before the camera long enough for the pose to fall away, then the protection of clothes. Still, she does not become available to us. She returns the look. By the last frame, the piano is no longer the work of art in the room.
